Secure data transmission

Personal data that users provide to us via the website forms are transmitted to us via a secure connection in encrypted form. The security procedure used (SSL-Secure Sockets Layer) corresponds to the usual state of the art.

All employees of WWF Switzerland and People part of the project group for the Conference: “Teaching and Learning for Change: Sustainability in Higher Education”, who handle user data are obliged to comply with data protection. Access to the system is via an authorisation procedure. SSL encryption (recognisable by https:// in the address line of the browser) is a protocol for encrypting data during transmission from the web server to the browser. This transmission offers a particularly high level of security. During transmission, personal data between the user's computer and our SSL server is encrypted using an SSL protocol.

Cookies, tracking and other technologies related to the use of our website

We typically use cookies and similar technologies on our websites to identify the user's browser or device. A cookie is a small file that is sent to or automatically stored on the computer or mobile device by the web browser used when a user visits our website. When a user visits this website again, we recognise him or her in this way, even if we do not know who he or she is. In addition to cookies that are only used during a session and deleted after the website visit (session cookies), cookies can also be used to store user settings and other information for a certain period of time (e.g. two years) (permanent cookies).

However, a user can set their browser to reject cookies, save them for one session only or otherwise delete them prematurely. Most browsers are preset to accept cookies. We use persistent cookies to help us better understand how users use our services and content. If a customer blocks cookies, certain functionalities (such as voice dialing) may no longer work.

YouTube

Some videos on our website may originate from YouTube.

The 'Your Data' feature in YouTube is an effective yet user-friendly management tool. It allows you to customise your privacy settings to your needs and informs you about the data we collect and use in our services.

General information on data processing

The protection of customer data is important to us. We respect privacy and are committed to processing customer data in accordance with applicable laws, regardless of whether a customer has provided us with data electronically, by post or by telephone. As a matter of principle, we only process personal data to the extent necessary to provide a functioning website and our content and services that a prospective conference contributor or  e-newsletter subscriber would like us to provide.

In any case, personal data is only processed within the framework of legal regulations. WWF Switzerland is subject to Swiss law. This also applies with regard to data protection. Our offer is directed exclusively at persons in Switzerland, which is why EU laws, in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation, are not applicable.

A more detailed and updated version of the data protection regulations can be found on the WWF Switzerland website: https://www.wwf.ch/de/ueber-uns/datenschutzerklaerung
